Ready To Face My Disguise

The creature represents the same message portrayed on the Creatures album cover. A group of beings that feel mistreated. Disheartened and forgotten, but ready to crawl from the dirt and fight through hell to make their mark on the world. The Disguise cover depicts the removal of a mask that many of us often find ourselves wearing every day to hide our true selves from the world out of fear of ridicule and rejection, as well as our own internal struggles with self acceptance. A mask that if worn long enough, threatens to consume the real you beneath.
The most common lyrical thread across the songs on Disguise (not all songs) are heavily based on my personal struggles mentally and emotionally over the past few years. Things I have kept bottled inside and have not shared with even the people closest to me. I recognized early last summer that I was in dire need of help and the lyrics were my outlet to speak about my journey to recovering from self destructive mental spiraling. I felt even more comfortable to do so because of the fans overwhelming support of our song Voices, and the music video that came with it. I’ll keep it at that for now, but the lyrics to the song Disguise should give you a great indication, of what I referring to and what to look for going forward in the songs, as well as how it correlates to the cover. I wanted to remove the mask and give you more insight as to who I am, and even some insight as to some struggles our band has experienced over the past two years as a group. -CM
